Mathematical Models in Prehistoric Cultural Evolution
Date: 2024 Nov 26th - 28th
Note: Despite the name, the venue is located near SENDAI station, not Tokyo.
Aim of the workshop
The workshop is mainly for modellers, maybe 20 to 30 participants, and we expect in-depth science discussion including mathematical or simulation details.
We plan roughly 10 talks in a 3-day workshop, with main focus on
- Prehistoric population and cultural dynamics
- Stochastic (such as population genetic) analysis
- Modeling and simulation of spatial dynamics
Funding
Travel expenses of invited participants are covered by the following funding.
"Mathematical Prehistory of Homo sapiens -Modeling the Cultural Evolution during the Range Expansion of Paleolithic Modern Humans"
Grant-in-Aid for Specially Promoted Research 24H00001 (2024-2028)
Keywords: Homo sapiens, Neanderthals extinction, Prehistoric archaeology,
Mathematical modeling
